On Cartooning
The
old cartoons of the '40s and '50s sustained Patrick's youth. He
watched them endlessly, and before long, was creating his own. In
the ensuing years, he gained a love for cartooning and animation
and has created hundreds of characters.
He
attended Montana State University in Bozeman and earned a BA in
motion picture and television production. His thesis film was a
four-minute animated short, drawn entirely by hand.
Coming
to Los Angeles, Patrick has been active in animation, particularly
on the Web. In addition to creating the visual designs for The Jadecats and other characters in their world, he also served as the
animation supervisor and co-producer for an animated series on Hypnotic.com,
and was the grand prize winner of Global Tantrum's Animated Joke
Competition from the 2002 World Animation Celebration.
Pat
met Paul in an acting class. The two clicked and quickly became
friends. Aware of Pat's amazing cartooning skills, Paul asked Pat
if he would like to take a shot at drawing a few renditions of The
Jadecats. Pat joined Paul on his project during the Spring of 2000.
Through a series of drafts, Pat was able to graphically manifest
Paul's visions. Since then Pat has produced at least two dozen depictions
of characters and environments for the world of the Jadecats, culminating
in a short promotional trailer.
Pat
was contracted as a freelance illustrator and will not be the animator
for the series. He has his hands full with many exciting projects
of his own on the forefront.
